Dreamstreet Entertainment, Lonetree Entertainment Option Brigadoon reimagining, DOON, for Network Series Development

Producers Gloria Morrison of Dreamstreet Entertainment, Bradley Arthur Hirou and Tony Eldridge of Lonetree Entertainment have optioned the young adult series DOON, a Scottish adventure reimagining Lerner and Loewe’s musical BRIGADOON, co-written by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon, for network series development.

The best-selling, four-book DOON series (BLINK/HarperCollins) follows Veronica and Mackenna, two best friends from the Midwest who travel to Alloway, Scotland and through a series of mysterious clues open a portal on the Brig o’ Doon which leads to a land outside of contemporary time and place. With its castles, balls, and kilted royalty, the kingdom of Doon seems like a real-life fairytale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica’s daydreams. But when the girls’ presence in Doon disrupts the enchantment that has protected the realm for centuries, the two outsiders must sacrifice everything—life, love, and future—to save their adopted kingdom before it vanishes forever into the mists.

Dreamstreet and Lonetree have produced such films as Sony’s first film Midnight; Firestorm; Who Killed Butch Pratt; Mykonos BlueThe Equalizer, and The Equalizer 2 with Denzel Washington; and the upcoming War Magician book adaptation starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS: CAREY CORP and LORIE LANGDON came up with the idea for DOON, their best-selling debut novel, one fateful winter morning while discussing their love of musicals. Lorie had known since seeing Brigadoon, at age sixteen, that she wanted more of the sleepy kingdom than the original story revealed, while Carey adored the idea of reinventing a mythical world through the eyes of two, vastly different, but inseparable friends—much like themselves. As ideas flew back and forth, suddenly the village that slept for 100 years at a stretch awoke to epic life, and DOON was born. Although Lorie and Carey live two hours apart, like Vee and Kenna, they talk and text continually throughout the day and have often wondered if they share a brain. Their DOON series has been featured on such auspicious sites as Entertainment Weekly, USAToday, Hypable.com, BroadwayWorld.com, and several NPR radio programs, including Lisa Loeb’s national Kid Lit show.
